Er shi si cheng ji – Change and a city in China. In Chengdu, factory 420 is being pulled down to make way for multi-story buildings with luxury flats. Scenes of factory operations, of the workforce, and of buildings stripped bare and then razed, are inter-cut with workers who were born in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s telling their stories – about the factory, which manufactured military aircraft, and about their work and their lives. A middle-aged man visits his mentor, now elderly; a woman talks of being a 19-year-old beauty there and ending up alone. The film concludes with two young people talking, each the child of workers, each relaying a story of one visit to a factory. Times change.
4 luni, 3 saptamni si 2 zile – 4 Months,3 Weeks and 2 Days is not a movie for everyone. It can be very strong for a sensible person. But, this is a challenging and fascinating movie. I said this movie is not for everyone because it has very hard scenes. But,those scenes are completely justified and the thing I most appreciated on them was the realism they show. A very strong realism that other movies do not show. So,this is also a brave movie.This film has a perfect creation of atmosphere and it made me feel I was inside that scenes. The performances are phenomenal. They are so natural that the actors do not seem to be acting. 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days is a spectacular film which is brave,fascinating and a challenge to the spectator. One of the best films of 2007.

The past comes rushing in when Harry learns of the death of Ernesto Martel, a wealthy businessman, and Ernesto’s son pays Harry a visit. In a series of flashbacks to the 1990s, we see Harry, who was then Mateo Blanco, a director; he falls in love with Ernesto’s mistress, Lena, and casts her in a film, which Ernesto finances. Ernesto is jealous and obsessive, sending his son to film the making of the movie, to follow Lena and Mateo, and to give him the daily footage. Judit doesn’t like Lena. It’s a collision course.

Each knows only a portion of the gold’s exact location, so for the moment they’re dependent on each other. However, none are particularly inclined to share.
